To Our Patients,

Due to the recent events regarding COVID-19, we want to keep you informed of how Austin Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic is proceeding at this time.

Please know that Austin ENT Clinic remains open and ready to provide care to our patients. 

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we have implemented the following policies and procedures to ensure this goal.

Telehealth

Telehealth provides a safe and effective way to treat our patients.  As coronavirus has spread throughout Central Texas, and even patients without symptoms are capable of spreading COVID-19, the benefits of telehealth are:

• In our current health crisis from coronavirus, telehealth provides the safest way to see the doctor
• With enhanced video capability, we can provide help to the vast majority of patients with a face to face telehealth visit alone
• A telehealth visit can help us identify patients who need more urgent care, including an evaluation in the clinic if necessary
• Convenient and simple access to award winning doctors

In office visits

On a limited basis, the doctor who evaluates you during your telehealth visit may feel it is necessary to see you in the office.  This decision is made on a case by case basis by each doctor.

Patients with scheduled appointments:

We are reaching out to all scheduled patients to transition to a telehealth visit. We are providing specific guidance and instructions on how to do this easily. Please feel free to contact us at (512) 454-0392 if you have any questions or concerns.  Please use our telehealth services – our patients are giving us great feedback on telehealth and we feel good knowing we are able to help you during this difficult time.

Some patients may still need to be seen in the office.  Your doctor will evaluate this and decide if you need a telemedicine appointment, typically after holding a telehealth visit with you to get more information.

Patients requesting new appointments:

If you are experiencing an acute respiratory illness, especially if you are concerned about coronavirus, please consider speaking with your primary care physician or with the Austin Public Health department at (512) 978-0300 or (512) 974-2000.  We unfortunately are unable to test for COVID-19 at Austin ENT Clinic at this time.

Patients with scheduled surgeries:

Our office will communicate with you prior to your scheduled surgery to determine how best to proceed. Please feel free to call us at 512-454-0392 if you have any questions.

Our commitment: 

We are continuing to serve our community’s health needs.  Our staff has been trained in infection control practices, standard precautions, and hand hygiene.  We are limiting the number of patients being seen and expanding the time between patients to allow staff to properly sanitize each exam room.  We will triage each patient both by telecommunication as well as at the time of their visit.

For this reason, please understand that we may not be able to see you in the office if you:

• Recently travelled internationally
• Recently were on a cruise
• Have been with someone with coronavirus
• Have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath

All patients coming to the office will be screened for these risk factors and have their temperature taken.
